We invite researchers, practitioners, students, and industry professionals interested in our workshop: Empowering Users in Public Procurement - User Involvement, Work Environment, and AI in Practice to participate in our First Workshop on this subject at NordiCHI2026. The workshop will take place on the 3th of October (Saturday), 2026, from 14:00 to 17:30. The workshop is open to all participants. Invitation to The Second Workshop on Designing with AI at NordiCHI2026

We invite researchers, practitioners, educators, students, and industry professionals interested in AI-supported interaction design to participate in our Second Workshop on Designing with AI at NordiCHI2026. The workshop will take place on the 4th of October (Sunday), 2026, from 14:00 to 17:30. To participate, please submit a short statement of approximately 300 words that describes your background and motivation for joining the workshop, and briefly introduces an AI tool, prototype, workflow, research case, teaching case, or design-practice observation you would like to discuss. The submitted cases will be used as starting points for the workshop activities. We welcome examples involving commercial AI tools, research prototypes, experimental workflows, organizational experiences, failed attempts, ethical concerns, or speculative cases. We are particularly interested in contributions that reveal tensions between current AI tools and the needs of interaction design practice, including questions of designer agency, professional judgment, accountability, collaboration, automation, design rationale, and the limitations of current AI tools. Workshop on Designing for the Democratic Pulse: Engagement, Silence, Friction, and Storytelling

Dear Nordichi community, We are happy to announce the NordiCHI 2026 Workshop on Designing for the Democratic Pulse: Engagement, Silence, Friction, and Storytelling! This workshop explores how technology design can sustain and renew democratic practices by engaging with the dynamic “pulse” of democracy. Rather than viewing democracy only through institutions or participation, we invite participants to explore four interconnected concepts, engagement, silence, friction, and storytelling, as lenses for imagining more inclusive, just, and resilient technological futures. Building on participatory design, critical HCI, democratic technology design, and speculative approaches, the workshop welcomes researchers, designers, practitioners, students, and activists interested in the intersections of technology, democracy, and social justice. Participants will collaboratively map key concepts, create low-fidelity design prototypes, and synthesise perspectives to develop new approaches for designing technologies that support deep democracy. This workshop explores whether, how, and under which conditions Welfare Robots (WRs), may be meaningfully integrated into future home- and healthcare services and practices.
