Postdoctoral position on Intention Drifting in AI-mediated programming (Lund University, deadline 26 Oct)
by Martin Jonsson 05 Oct '26

05 Oct '26
Dear colleagues, A 24-month postdoctoral position in Human-Computer Interaction is open, focusing on AI-mediated programming. The position is part of the project "Intention Drifting", funded through the WASP and WASP-HS programmes, and is a collaboration between Lund University (Emma Söderberg) and Södertörn University Stockholm (Martin Jonsson). The project examines intention drifting: the gradual divergence between developers' expressed intentions, AI system interpretations and the behaviour of the resulting code. Implications for authorship, responsibility and critical judgement are explored through conceptual development, empirical studies and research through design, drawing on posthumanist and entanglement theories The postdoctoral researcher will lead the day-to-day research, including developing intention drifting as an analytical framework, running workshop-based studies with developers using AI coding tools, designing probes, publishing in HCI and software engineering venues, and collaborating with industry partners. The position involves travel between Lund and Stockholm. Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field, and priority will normally be given to those who completed their doctorate within three years of the deadline. Application deadline: 26 October 2026 Apply and read more: https://lu.varbi.com/en/what:job/jobID:975583/ For further information, please contact Martin Jonsson (martin.jonsson(a)sh.se) for questions on the research topic or Emma Söderberg (emma.soderberg(a)cs.lu.se) for questions on the Lund WASP research environment.
