The award comprises a monetary prize of Euro 500 and publication of the work in our collection of outstanding dissertations Springer Theses<http://www.springer.com/series/8790>. Now in its fifth year this program has so far helped to disseminate the work of nearly 300 talented young scientists, many who have gone on to win other awards and/or take up leading research positions. Please do share this invitation with the supervisors of potential candidates. If you have any questions or comments, I will be very happy to discuss them with you. A list of qualifying criteria is appended below. To ensure that the research is published with a minimum of delay, we would request that you send us your nomination (using the attached form) by the end of January 2014. With best wishes from Heidelberg, Angela Lahee Qualifying Criteria for Springer Theses 1. The thesis must have been examined and passed within the past year 2. No more than 30% of the content should have appeared *verbatim* in other publications. Permission to reproduce any previously published parts should be obtained by the author. 3. The text should be written in good English 4. Selection should be made on the basis of scientific quality and value to the research community. 5. The supervisor - or equivalent senior scientist - agrees to contribute a foreword for the Springer version of the thesis. 6.
