Hi everyone, For our next journal club on Tuesday, May 13, we will explore a paper that merges two exciting and rapidly evolving fields: mRNA therapeutics and CNS-targeted drug delivery. "Blood–brain-barrier-crossing lipid nanoparticles for mRNA delivery to the central nervous system" published in Nature Materials, February 2025. 🔗 https://doi.org/10.1038/s41563-024-02114-5 The paper describes how lipid nanoparticles formulated with ionizable lipids inspired by brain-targeting small molecules enable efficient mRNA delivery across the blood–brain-barrier, a long-standing challenge in neurotherapeutics. I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts and discussing the potential implications of this research for infectious diseases of the CNS. Best regards, Eva.
