Yours Gulan/Jan Doctoral student in Human Computer Interaction KTH, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Project description Third-cycle subject: The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) invites applications for a full-time position for a PhD student in human-computer interaction with a focus on learning and digital accessibility. The main task is to conduct research and development within an EU project (AccessCoVE). The AccessCoVE project aims to create professional excellence in the field of digital accessibility for people with disabilities (including the elderly). Based on international standards and ongoing policy development in the area of digital accessibility, we will create conditions for building knowledge and ability to train, assess, certify and support accessibility work at the European level with tools and curriculum. We invite highly motivated candidates with an interest in international cooperation, to work for social sustainability and against discrimination, to develop new educations and forms of education, as well as to develop digital systems based on qualities such as usability and accessibility in a user-centered way to collaborate in our research group and to be trained as an expert in digital accessibility. The student is expected to produce research results with open access to peer-reviewed conferences and journals. The PhD student will also be able to develop project management skills for international projects. Candidates will be assessed upon their ability to: independently pursue his or her work collaborate with others, have a professional approach, analyze and work with complex issues demonstrate experience in working with usability and accessibility of digital systems, show experience of working for, or in collaboration with people with disabilities, demonstrate experience of working with educational development, and demonstrate the ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment and collaborate with diverse colleagues. This is a human centered position. The doctoral student will be collaborating with people with disabilities. Good knowledge in the Swedish language, both written and oral is therefore important since its part of the every day work. After the qualification requirements, great emphasis will be placed on personal skills. Target degree: Doctoral degree Information regarding admission and employment Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time. In the case of studies that are to be completed with a licentiate degree, the total period of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education for two years. Call for workshop participation in the ECCE 2025 conference: Designing Meaningful Industrial Work for Hybrid Human-Technology Environments 7 October 2025, Tallinn, Estonia We are inviting contributions to an interactive workshop that will explore how cognitive ergonomics and human-centered design can enhance the meaningfulness of work in hybrid environments where humans collaborate with automation, artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), and other suitable technologies. Important dates: * Deadline for position papers: 31 July 2025 * Notification to participants will be sent on 15 August 2025 * Workshop: 7 October 2025. Tallinn University, Estonia The workshop will be held as part of ECCE 2025 conference. The workshop will include position paper talks / sharing session, interactive discussions, short expert talks, collaborative activity, and future directions or joint paper collaboration. The workshop aims to discuss human-centered, cognitively ergonomic, and meaningful industrial work in hybrid environments with a particular focus on enhancing worker motivation, competence, and well-being, while attracting younger generations of workers.
