Michael DePalatis recently obtained his PhD from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in Atlanta, USA. While at Georgia Tech, Michael worked on experiments involving the direct laser cooling and spectroscopy of trapped triply ionized thorium ions in addition to experiments for producing sympathetically cooled molecular barium monohalide ions. At Aarhus, Michael joins the COMIQ Initial Training Network where he will be working on state preparation and precision spectroscopy of cold molecular ions in the group of Michael Drewsen as well as overseeing training activities and contributing to the overall coordination of the scientific program of COMIQ. Bjarke Rolighed Jeppesen er uddannet cand.scient i fysik og musikvidenskab på Aarhus Universitet. I sin nye stilling skal han beskæftige sig med bagsidereflektorer til Si-baserede tyndfilmssolceller i renrummet ved iNANO samt anvendelsen af nanoimprint, electron-beam lithography og metaldeponering til fremstilling af metalliske nanostrukturer. Desuden vil karakterisering af nanostrukturer ved hjælp af scanning-electron microscopy, atomic-force microscopy og optiske refleksmålinger også være en del af arbejdet.
