Title: Laser induced tunneling on attosecond time scale Speaker: Darko Dimitrovski, IFA Time: Thursday, February 24, 15.15 to 16.00 Place: Fysisk Auditorium Abstract: In the research area of attoscience, tunneling of an electron through the barrier formed by the electric field of the femtosecond laser pulse and the atomic potential is usually the initial key process that triggers subsequent dynamics. In this sense progress in attoscience, aiming at the resolution of the dynamics of the electron motion on its natural time scale requires a detailed understanding of tunnel ionization. I will discuss the recent progress made towards more precise description of strong-field tunneling incorporating the modifications of the ionization potential due to the Stark shifts, and the multielectron effects due to the polarization of the multielectron system of the remaining ion. The "natural coordinates" of the problem of laser-induced electron tunneling are discussed. The theory is compared to experiments employing circularly or near circularly polarized laser pulses.
