Title: Molecules in hollow-core photonic bandgap fibres Speaker: Jan Hald, Danish Fundamental Metrology Time: Thursday, November 25, 15.15 to 16.00 Place: Fysisk Auditorium Abstract: Both high intensity and long interaction length is needed for nonlinear spectroscopy on weak molecular transitions. The narrow core of hollow-core fibres allows for high intensity maintained over a distance limited basically by the practical problem of filling gas into the fibre. Various spectroscopic techniques are studied in gas-filled hollow-core fibres, including saturated absorption, velocity selective spectroscopy on ?cold? molecules, and microwave-optical double resonance. The dynamics of gas filling is investigated, and possible applications as well as limitations within gas sensing and optical frequency standards are discussed.
