FYI Please note that supervision is not among the options listed in the document mentioned below. /Allan ________________________________ Fra: Allan Hvidkjær Sørensen Sendt: 18. oktober 2016 14:42 Til: phd-all.phys@maillist.au.dk Cc: Ann-Berit Porse Stærkær Emne: Teaching Dear PhD student, Due to a particular incident I would like to stress that, as a rule, only the options listed in the document that was circulated with the mail below will grant you credit towards the 140 working hours per semester. If you are asked by somebody to perform other duties that you think should earn you some credit, you are strongly advised to clear this with me before embarking; if not you may end up with no credit. The reason for this rather strict policy is that we have to be sure to have enough hands to man the regular TAships. As usual we will do this as far as possible for the full academic year ahead. Yet some adjustments for the spring 2016 will undoubtedly have to be made later (January). The options are listed in the document attached this message. For those of you who do not speak Danish the possibilities are somewhat limited; you will have to aim for courses without a plain "D". Please report your preferences using the web service Gonzales (adopted from the Department of Computer Science): https://services.brics.dk/java/gonzales/#/vote/PHYS/90/3fef935be8428033 For each semester select a priority for at least 6 options (as far as possible), that is, use all numbers from 1 to 6 once in each semester (or all numbers 1 through 3 once in each quarter). Please use the "comment space" if for some reason you do not want to teach in a given period or if you have to communicate other relevant matters. As usual, course descriptions are available at http://kursuskatalog.au.dk/ The "Talent/Challence Track" is supplementary to the ordinary program where small groups of 1st year students under supervision try out more challenging activities in a total of 5 modules distributed over the year (some modules also run in exam periods between quarters). You may find some comments on formalities at the end of the attached document. Please note that only activities which you have agreed on with me count towards fulfillment for your teaching obligations. The deadline for responding is Sunday, June 19. Please note that the online system Gonzales for managing TA activities and the like is still under development. It is not fully implemented at IFA; for the time being it contains no information prior to the current academic year. Best regards, Allan Sørensen
