“Subhadip Das joins the research group of Profs. Yong P. Chen and Richard Balog as a postdoctoral fellow at their Laboratory of Quantum Materials and Quantum Measurements (LQ2M2) and Villum Centre for Hybrid Quantum Materials and Devices (HQDM) and the Department of Physics and Astronomy in February 2022.”
“Subhadip will work on novel 2D materials and hybrids using optical Raman/IR spectroscopy in combination of electronic transport and scanning probe microscopy.
Prior to joining Aarhus University, Subhadip recently completed his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, and he completed his master's from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur with an emphasis on superconducting magnetic penetration depth measurement. Being an experimental condensed matter physicist, his past research has focused on the interaction between electrons and phonons in two-dimensional materials such as MoTe2, ReS2, and FePS3. He has extensive experience in Raman spectroscopy, device fabrication techniques, characterization methods, and high pressure and low-temperature systems.”
“In his free time, Subhadip likes to pencil sketch portraits, play table tennis, and cook now and then.”

Standardferie:
-
4 dage i uge 52, 2021
-
1 dage i uge 15, 2022
-
3 uger i juli/august (ugerne 29, 30 og 31, 2022) - denne ferie forventes afholdt inden d. 1/9-22 medmindre særlig aftale er indgået.
-
5 dage i uge 42, 2022
Du kan finde IFA’s ferieregler her www.phys.medarbejdere.au.dk/ferie-og-fravaer/

Title:
The molecular origin of life: From interstellar to planetary prebiotic chemistry
Abstract:
Life as we know it is built from molecules. Therefore, to understand how life originated, we need to understand how the first biomolecule building blocks formed. In this seminar, we will follow the prebiotic chemistry from star- and planet-forming regions to the planets and moons in our Solar System.
With laboratory experiments and radio telescope observations, we will unravel the formation of some of these prebiotic molecules in space. We will see that star-forming regions are teeming with a large variety of prebiotic molecules and that many of these species are formed in the ice mantles of interstellar dust grains.
The journey is continued to the Solar System, where we want to know if prebiotic molecules are present in the ice of Europa - a moon of Jupiter - or in the atmosphere of Venus, to help understand if these objects are habitable or perhaps even harbor life. For this purpose, we constructed the ORIGIN instrument, a Laser Desorption Mass Spectrometer for space exploration missions that can detect trace amounts of amino acids, lipids, and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs). We will look at how this instruments operates and how it is implemented in space missions.
