Marie Curie master class – call for nominations

Dear all,

In 2023, NAT and TECH again invite to a joint Marie Skłodowska Curie (MSCA) Master Class. The Master Class is arranged by the Research Support Office and comprises of a series of webinars, individual meetings, and detailed feedback on a draft MSCA postdoctoral fellowship proposal. The 2023 call will be published in April, with a deadline on 13 September 2023 MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023 | Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (europa.eu). At the time being, you can consult the general programme page for details concerning criteria and eligibility Postdoctoral Fellowships | Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (europa.eu).

The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship programme has a strong focus on the fellow's career and the mutual exchange of knowledge between fellow and the host institution. Successful proposals argue strongly for how the grant will improve the fellow’s future career prospects, and why the hosting group/institution is the ideal environment for the fellow’s development. It thus requires involvement of the supervisor to write a successful MSCA-proposal beyond what is often seen in postdoc proposals, and the Master Class aims at supporting both candidate and supervisor in the process. Supervisors are expected to attend in the webinars (see timeline at the very end of this mail), so please pencil your calendar, if you nominate a candidate.

Participation in the master class is offered to approx. 20 candidates at NAT, i.e. 1-2 candidates from each department. Nat uses a two-step process for selecting candidates:

  1. Supervisors nominate potential candidates (see deadline below). The department’s research committee assesses the nominations, and prioritizes/ranks qualified candidates.
  2. Based on the prioritised lists from all departments, the vice dean for research selects the candidates who will be offered participation in the master class. Candidates who cannot be offered participation, will be put on a faculty waiting list.

All group leaders are encouraged to search their networks for potential candidates (note that some candidates may already be working at AU). At the end of this mail, you find a check list concerning eligibility, and a draft invitation mail to candidate is attached for your convenience. Before nominating a candidate to the research committee, you need to critically assess the candidate’s eligibility, qualifications and project. Only top candidates must be nominated.

To nominate a candidate, please submit the attached application form incl. attachments (cv and publication list) to Maria Juhler Maibom (mjm@phys.au.dk)  no later than 20 February. The department’s research committee will assess all nominations, and pass a prioritized list of candidates on to the dean’s office. The dean’s office will notify about the result by 27 March.

Best regards – on behalf of the research committee

Maria
