Kære alle på IFA - (a translation into English is found below) Julen 2015
Så nærmer Julen sig igen, skønt det ikke kendes med en udetemperatur på over 10 grader. Vi har sikkert alle travlt med at få ryddet årets sidste
opgaver væk fra vores bord, så vi kan starte på en frisk i det nye år.
Igen i år havde vi stor søgning til fysikstudiet, hvilket er herligt. Fremover vil vi være nødsaget til at holde fokus på gennemførselstider
så flest muligt kommer gennem studiet på nær normeret tid. Vi står også overfor ændringer i forbindelse med genindførelsen af semesterstrukturen og revision af kursusudbuddet. Jeg synes generelt, at vi har spændende ting i gang på undervisningsfronten, ikke
mindst mht. brugen af nye metoder til indlæring, som for eksempel Sci2U.
Vi har brugt rigtig mange kræfter på at få skrevet en ny 2016-2020 strategiplan for IFA. Den er i øjeblikket til gennemlæsning i Dekanatet,
hvorfra vi får feed-back først i det nye år. Stor tak til alle der har bidraget til dens indhold. Fokus for vort institut er naturligvis forskning og uddannelse. Vi mener, at vi fagligt set hører til i den bedste ende på nationalt plan og i rapporten kan I
læse hvilke initiativer, der påtænkes iværksat i de kommende år for at sikre en god udvikling af Instituttet.
Igen i år har vi trukket på Jeres tålmodighed i forbindelse med ombygningerne. Men det lysner nu og jeg synes, at vi sammen kan glæde os over
nogle dejlige lokaler (kontorer, laboratorier osv.). Vi mangler stadig at renovere kantinen, og hvis vi skal have indflydelse på dens indretning, er det på høje tid at komme med gode forslag nu.
Vi har i årets løb fået nye TAP og VIP medarbejdere. En af Instituttets store styrker er vores sammenhængskraft, medarbejdere imellem. Lad
os derfor huske at byde de nye velkomne i ord og handling, så det ikke behøver tage flere år før de bliver en del af IFA-fællesskabet i dets mange facetter (fagligt og socialt).
Stor tak for netop Din indsats i årets løb. Vi har et Institut vi godt tør være stolte over (uden at vi behøver blive hverken korn eller selv-fede).

Dear all at IFA.
Christmas 2015
Christmas is near, although it is hard to tell with an outside temperature of more than 10 degrees. We are probably all busy clearing our
desks and finishing the last tasks of the year, to be able to make a fresh start in the new year.
Once again, this year, physics has welcomed many new students, which is great. In the future, we will keep focus on completion times so
that as many students as possible will finish close to standard time. We are also facing changes in connection with the reintroduction of the semester structure and the revision of the courses offered. Generally, I find that there are exciting new things happening
within our teaching, not least with regard to the use of new methods of learning, for example Sci2U.
We have put much effort into the writing of a new 2016-2020 strategy plan for IFA. The plan is currently being reviewed by the Dean's Office,
from which we will receive feedback in the beginning of the new year. A sincere thanks to everybody who have contributed to its content. The focus of our department is, of course, research and education. We believe that we have a top department academically
and in the report, you can read more about the initiatives, planned for the coming years in order to ensure the success of the department.
Again this year, we have asked for your patience in connection with the renovations. But it is now coming to an end, and I think that we
can now enjoy our lovely rooms (offices, laboratories, etc. ). Renovation of the canteen still remains, and if we are to have any influence on its interior, it is high time to come up with good proposals now.
In the course of the year, we have been gained new members of our technical/administrative staff as well as our academic staff. One of the
department's great strengths is the cohesion between the employees. Therefore, let us remember to welcome our new colleagues (short term as well as permanent), in words as well as actions, so that it does not need take exceedingly long time before they become
a part of the IFA community in its many aspects (academically as and socially).
A big thank, especially for your efforts in the course of the year. We dare to be proud of our department (without being self-satisfied).
