Venlig hilsen

Power and it system maintenance to take place on 5 and 6 September

Approximately once a quarter we schedule all optimisation and maintenance tasks that require IT systems and other systems to be taken out of operation. We have scheduled such a service window for 5 and 6 September 2015, during which time it will not  be possible to access the university's IT systems. In June, we consulted both academic and administrative users regarding the scheduling of the service window, and the schedule that has been adopted has been designed to inconvenience the fewest possible users.

Therefore, most of the work will be performed between Saturday 5 September at 18:00 to Sunday 6 September at approximately 14:00.

However, as with previous service windows, telephony, AV equipment as well as PCs/Macs  that do not require a connection to central IT systems or AU’s internet service will function normally throughout the entire weekend.

This means that staff will be able to work from home or at an AU workstation on files saved to their pc/tablet. And it will be possible to use AV equipment for teaching or presentations that do not require access to AU’s systems.

Here is a more detailed service window schedule:

Saturday 5 September

Until 18:00  ALL educational and administrative systems will function normally. From 18.00 to approx. 14.00 on Sunday 6 September, ALL educational and administrative systems will be out of operation while the internet connection is moved and many systems are updated. In this period, telephony will function normally, as will AV equipment, pc’s and Macs.  However, functions requiring a connection to AU’s central IT systems will be unavailable.

Sunday 6 September

From Saturday 5 September at 18.00 to Sunday at approximately 14:00 , ALL educational and administrative systems will be out of operation. The S building at Fuglesangs Allé will be without power, lift, key card access, networks or IP telephony from 7:00 to 10:00. In this period, telephony will function normally, as will AV equipment, pc’s and Macs. However, functions requiring a connection to AU’s central IT systems will be unavailable.

By  approximately 14:00, power and IT systems at AU will have been optimised, re-established and functioning normally again.

From Friday 4 September, a detailed schedule for the service window as well as updates on completion status will be available here: http://driftstatus.au.dk/Servicewindow/Details/4

This email is intended to provide information about the service window as early as possible. We encourage all employees who are planning to work on Saturday 5 September to copy all relevant content to their own pc in order to be able to work offline. Information about the service window will be communicated via the following channels in addition to this email:

If you have any questions about the planned service window,  please send a mail to driftstatus.it@au.dk

Sincerely

AU IT and Digital Media
