You can apply for: * Research Project 1 (< DKK 2 million, excl. overhead) * Research Project 2 (DKK 2 - 4.3 million, excl. overhead) The deadlines vary for each research council, and are as follows for FNU, FSS and FTP: * Medical Sciences (FSS): September 22nd at 12:00 noon * Technology and Production Sciences (FTP): September 24th at 12:00 noon * Natural Sciences (FNU): September 28th at 12:00 noon The RSO cannot provide individual application support for this call. Instead they have prepared a self-help package, including budget templates and information to help you prepare your budget(-s) for the research projects. Attached in this mail, you will find: 1. 'Budget tool.' with updated, standard salary rates that you can use to make your background budget. 2. 'DFF_BudgetSkabelon_E2021' which is the DFF's budget template for research projects that needs to be uploaded in the e-grant.dk portal. 3. 'DFF_useful budget comments' can help you prepare justifications for the costs of your project activities. You can easily insert the justifications/comments in the official DFF budget template. 4. The mandatory 'DFF_budget confirmation E2021' that you need to fill in before obtaining your HoD's signature. 5. The 'Call for proposals', which is the main file to read. Here you can read all the necessary info, and the various sections mentioned throughout this email. Alternatively, you may contact the RSO for budget assistance by sending a mail to Andreas Krabbe: akkb(a)au.dk<mailto:akkb@au.dk>. Please notice that the transfer of numbers from the draft budget to the official DFF template is the responsibility of the applicant. Please make sure to contact the RSO no later than the 20th of September. Please note the following: ü Make sure that you relate actively to the call in question. ü If applying for funding for postdoctoral scholarships, make sure that the postdoctoral candidates have obtained their PhD or equivalent qualifications within the last 4 years at the time of the call deadline. Therefore, remember to calculate your candidate's PhD age according to section 4.3.5 in the guidelines. ü Clearly describe the roles and responsibilities of all team members, including PhD students and postdocs. ü Do not assume that all evaluators know your field, methods or research context. Consider who your target audience is, and write the proposal so that that the ambition and relevance of your project is clear to people outside your research field. ü Outline a realistic work plan, including work packages and milestones if relevant. ü Highlight relevant success criteria and risks ü Make sure that you have selected the proper research council that corresponds with your field of research. I sin forskning arbejder hun på at forstå den katalytiske aktivitet af forskellige materialer, fra metal- eller oxidpartikler i en kemisk reaktor til støvkorn i det interstellare rum, ved hjælp af kvantemekaniske beregninger, maskinlæring og mikrokinetisk modellering. Mie har været tilknyttet AIAS på Aarhus Universitet siden februar 2021. Hun er uddannet fra Aarhus Universitet, hvor hun i 2014 fik sin ph.d.-grad. Gennem sin karriere har hun forsket ved CEMES-CNRS i Toulouse, Frankrig samt Technische Universität München i Tyskland. Mie er født i Roskilde og opvokset nær den lille by Ødsted vest for Vejle. Hun bor nu i Vejle med sin mand og søn på 2 år og dyrker gerne oplevelser i naturen som vandre- cykel- og løbeture. Det vil senere blive meldt ud, hvor og hvornår vores nye lektor vil holde sin tiltrædelsesforelæsning. Dear all, Please notice that the European Research Council (ERC) has announced its work programme for 2022, and that the Synergy Grant is returning. Highlights of the plan 2022: * Synergy Grants. After a break in 2021 this grant competition is returning and will open on 15 July 2021. Synergy Grants offer support for a small group of two to four principal investigators to jointly address ambitious research problems that could not be addressed by the individual researchers and their teams working alone. One of these principal investigators may be based outside Europe. * Four Proof of Concept funding rounds will take place under this work programme. The first call will open in July 2021 for €25 million in grants of 150,000 each. Then in November 2021, the ERC will open a call with €25 million divided between three deadlines in February, May and September of the following year. * Public Engagement with Research Award. After a successful pilot competition in 2020, the ERC will run the second edition. The awards will recognise three ERC grantees, with a prize of €10,000 each, in the three categories: “Involve” for citizen science, “Inspire” for public outreach, and “Influence” for media and policy. The competition is expected to open on 5 October 2021. * As a measure to ease the Covid-19 impact for researchers, the work programme includes the possibility for applicants to mention in their research proposal (part B1) any specific situation caused by the pandemic that had a negative impact on their CV or track record. This will be taken into account during the evaluation of proposals. See also the Scientific Council statement. * Gender equality plans at host institutions. To be eligible for calls with deadlines in 2022, the institutions to host ERC grantees must have a gender equality plan or an equivalent strategic document in place at the time of the signing of the grant and for the duration of the project. * The work programme introduces several changes to the way applicants are expected to describe their scientific track record. These changes aim to further strengthen the ERC’s alignment with research assessment principles that recognise the intrinsic quality of researchers’ work and the value and impact of all research outputs.
