Dear all, For the seminar on Thursday October 23rd, I have the following people who signed up: Tomas, Linda, Benedikt, Aina, Christine, Merete, Magnus, Genona, Oleguer & Natalie (online). We will meet from around 9.30 to 16.00 to have some presentations (more details below). Then, we will do a social activity, and we will end up going for dinner together. I hope to share the program in the coming days. I have a couple of messages you: * Please let me know if you have dietary requirements (send me an e-mail to me only) * We have some new members in the group, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to introduce ourselves to everyone else. In this seminar, instead of having external people presenting something, we will only have internal presentations. Everyone will have a spot of 20 minutes to introduce themselves to the rest of the group (with slides, if possible). * Prepare a presentation of around 13-15 minutes (to allow time for questions / discussions). Make sure it’s not longer than this. If it’s shorter, it is OK. * Start by introducing a little bit yourself (background, previous work, maybe something personal, etc.) * Describe 3 facts of yourself (two which are true, and one that is not true) * Talk about the projects you are working on, or you plan to work on. Explain this as if your audience has never heard of your work, so avoid things like “In Study 3 I will do that” or “In the COMO-ABC study we will replicate the COMO-XYZ study”, etc. Describe what you do (or plan to do) so that everyone can understand. * You could also include some short/long-term career goals, if you want to discuss them openly. * Maybe ask 1-2 things that you would like feedback on (if anything) * After the presentation, we will have 5-7 minutes to discuss your research (or research plans), and we will then have to guess which of the 3 facts is not true The idea is to have an informal day where we can spend some quality-time and get to know each other, so no one should feel nervous about preparing this presentation. This is a (very) safe space. If anyone does not feel comfortable preparing a presentation (or would prefer a shorter presentation), please let me know. Otherwise I assume everyone on the list above will present something. Natalie, I am still coordinating the location of the event. I hope we can have a hybrid session, but I will let you know as soon as I have more info. Looking forward to seeing you all!
