Bimolecular Design Meeting and Students for iGEM competition
Dear AUNAB community, Invitation to Afternoon Meeting on Biomolecular Design On behalf of the organizing committee, I hereby send you the invitation to join us on Tuesday 21st October from 13:00-17:30 at AIAS, where the two research networks AUSBI<http://www.ausbi.au.dk/> and AUNAB<https://projects.au.dk/aunab/about-aunab> are co-hosting an afternoon event focusing on Biomolecular Design techniques and resources available to researchers at Aarhus University. Please find the meeting invitation and a program attached. All interested across departments at Aarhus University, with an interest in biomolecular design, are very welcome to attend. We strongly encourage both group leaders, junior researchers, and students to join. Participants are asked to bring a poster about their research for the networking and poster session, where pizza and drinks will also be available. Registration Find more information and register here: https://projects.au.dk/ausbi/events/biomolecular-design-afternoon-21-october... Please register by Friday 10th October (free of charge), so we can order catering accordingly. Student team for iGEM competition AUNAB is assembling a student team to participate in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM<https://igem.org/>) Competition 2026. Below is an overview of the timeline - from launching the student team in January to participating in the Grand Jamboree in Paris in October. [The iGEM Cycle: How to Navigate the iGEM Competition — iGEM Blog] We already have a core group of interested students and are now seeking additional 3rd-year bachelor’s students and 1st-year master’s students to join the team. Students from all educational backgrounds are encouraged to apply. While iGEM is a synthetic biology competition, building a successful project requires a diverse team with diverse skills including fields such as science, engineering, health, ethics, and business. Benefits of Participating in iGEM Students who join the team will gain: * 5 ECTS credits for their summer laboratory work * Valuable experience and skill development in: * Teamwork and project management * Laboratory techniques and data analysis * Fundraising and grant applications * Innovation and entrepreneurship * A prestigious, internationally recognized competition to include on their CV * The opportunity to travel to Paris and attend the iGEM Grand Jamboree We kindly ask you to share this opportunity with your students. Students who are interested in joining the iGEM 2026 team can register here: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/FGM0WssPx3 Deadline for expressing interest is November 1st. If you have any questions about the competition or the process, please feel free to contact me, Kalinka Hansen, or Ebbe Sloth Andersen directly.
